Personal Development

Class Camp

Our approach to personal development is asset-based, with a focus on personal awareness and effectiveness. We run class bonding camps for all RI Year 5 students to enhance inter-personal relationships and foster a stronger class identity. In terms of each student’s personal development, the emphasis is on building character as well as positive values. These class bonding camps are the very place where the students can explore their personal strengths and weaknesses in the spirit of discovery, learning and friendship.

Raffles Leadership Portal

RIEL launched the Raffles Leadership Portal in July 2010. This portal will offer free access (till 2013) to real-life stories of leadership moments from outstanding leaders.

With easy access to this collective wisdom, educators and students all over world will have a chance to study outstanding leadership approaches and values.

We are particularly interested in experiences that highlight the importance of character and purpose of leadership. By "character", we refer to the principles, values and traits that guide and ground good leaders in decision-making during critical times. By "purpose", we refer to greater/noble goals and visions of a better age that give meaning to why leadership positions are accepted or sought.

This portal will be developed in 2 phases. Phase 1 will invite contributions from Singaporean leaders in the government, civil service, business and philanthropy sectors; and outstanding 'average' Singaporeans. Phase 2 will include focus on non-Singaporean leaders of international acclaim.
